Long weekends in April to note
Two holidays in April will lead to extended weekends. The April 14 holiday (Monday) creates a long weekend from Saturday to Monday. The April 18 holiday (Friday) extends the weekend from Friday to Sunday. On these dates, all market segments, including equities, derivatives, and currency trading, will be suspended across the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Looking ahead: 2025 Market Holidays
Markets will also be shut on May 1 for Maharashtra Day, followed by closures for Independence Day (August 15) and Ganesh Chaturthi (August 27).
The final quarter of 2025 includes breaks for Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra (October 2), Diwali festivities (October 21-22), and Prakash Gurpurb (November 5). Trading will conclude for the year with a holiday on Christmas (December 25).
All segments, including equities, derivatives, currency markets, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), and electronic gold receipts (EGR), remain suspended for a market holiday and trading resumes the next day, as per regular market hours from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. IST.
